I often make props by hand for my photographs. It somehow takes the idea to a new level, and the personal perspective feels stronger. It will be a one-off for me – just like photography. I want my images to have imperfections and strange elements because that is what life is all about.
When I build things with my hands, I look for human warmth, funny surprises, and more depth to a story. When I work with authentic materials, I get time to think more about the concept. When I start to put pieces together – first in front of my camera and then in post-production – and when it makes sense for somebody else, too, it’s one of the best feelings.
I will collect random BTS images from different projects, and hopefully, there will be a good selection one day. I want to show you that there is so much more than the final piece. It’s all a process..
