I’m a Helsinki-based visual artist exploring the balance between photography, storytelling and emotions. Photo based art allows me to explore incidents and moods for which I can’t find words — so I aim for the visual implementation. I do fine art photography, conceptual photography and portraits with a quirky twist. I’m interested in people, life and stories — but I like to bring them into a special world. My inspiration often comes from real experiences and observations that I rearrange with my own perspective. I’m looking for small miracles in the obscure places and ordinary moments. My images are often staged, because I’m interested in the space between real and unreal. I want to explore that mysterious zone where reality and fiction collide — that’s where I find wonderful surprises. In my work, I study the transformation of an individual, nature and time and I search the balance between fragility and strength. I often wonder which is more important: how things really are orhow we experience and feel them and what impact they have on us.
Images above are a selection from personal work during 2010-2021. Many of my projects are in work in progress mode, because I work on several projects simultaneously and I take advantage of the season cycle. That’s why it takes me several years to finish one project.
